What is FORESMA?
Friends of Robert Eagle Staff Musical Arts (FORESMA) was established to ensure that a music education continues to be accessible to all Robert Eagle Staff Middle School students, regardless of their ability to rent an instrument or pay for individual lessons.
We raise funds to build and support this unique music program: a program that supports each individual, builds confidence through teamwork, and establishes a place of belonging for students.
Our funding priorities include:
Acquisition and maintenance of musical instruments (supplemental to what is provided by Seattle Public Schools)
Small-group instruction (instrument coaching from professional clinicians)
Support of early jazz music education: additional Jazz band instructor (Jazz 2) and participation at workshops and competitions like the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival
Library of sheet music
Signature student off-site event experiences paying for transportation and participation in regional festivals and parades
Funds we raise can offset the cost per student of participation, and in some cases can make or break whether an activity is available at all.
Financial Support
Watch for our fundraising events, where you have an opportunity to socialize and support the RESMS music community. These gatherings usually involve student-performed music and delicious food! Please plan to attend, or better yet, volunteer to help out!
